Grading Policy

This is a graded class designed to enable motivated eighth graders to enter advanced math classes in high school.

• Quizzes are graded on a standard A through F system.
• Homework is given credit if completed on time and no-credit if late. Sloppy or incomplete homework may get partial credit.
• Special projects, proactive participation, continual effort, and consistent progress over time count toward the final grade.
• Students who repeatedly fail quizzes or do not complete assignments on time may be transferred to another class.
• Any student missing two or more assignments without good cause is required to attend a meeting with the main class teacher. If the problem is not resolved through this meeting, a meeting with the family will be scheduled.
• Families will be kept informed through frequent progress reports. Progress reports are sent home approximately once a week. A copy is always sent to the main class teacher as well.
